The TimkenSteel 3,300-ton in-line forge press at the Faircrest Steel Plant in Canton, Ohio, offers customers sound-center engineered steel bars that can unlock new operating efficiencies. The forge press uses an innovative large-bar forged-rolled process, which TimkenSteel developed and installed to enhance center soundness of a larger cross-section of TimkenSteel® special bar quality steel.

A second ladle refiner – combined with the TimkenSteel large bloom continuous caster coming in 2014 – are centerpieces of the current Faircrest Steel Plant expansion strategy. TimkenSteel expects the refiner and caster to increase the plant’s shippable capacity by 25 percent and enable the production of a broader range of large-diameter engineered steel bars.
