Materials technology and tribology are major areas of expertise which encompass a wide range of materials from bearing steels and lubricants to ceramics, rubber, polymers and other nonmetallic materials. The tribology lab analyzes friction and wear rates of materials in contact.
Other groups provide detailed analysis and in-depth developmental studies for new products and application solutions. Advanced design modeling involves contact stress, sliding friction and heat generation, and their impact on bearing performance. Other experts perform finite element analysis of structures, elastomers and plastics to create detailed models of bearings in specific applications.
