Ask most people how to get ahead and you’ll often hear the same answer: Work hard and do a good job. Erik has a few other things he’d suggest to associates who want to succeed and advance at The Timken Company.
“We have very technical products sold in a very complex global market. It’s important to ask questions, and seek to understand before trying to be understood. When associates really understand the fundamentals of why things are the way they are, whether it’s a bearing application or a business process, then they are in a strong position to make important changes for the better.”
But Erik tempers that very serious advice with the recommendation that associates also “… have fun, because you can find fun in everything you do.”
