You talk about Timken’s “competencies.” What are those?
- We define a competency as: “A set of related behaviors that underlie an associate’s ability to
accomplish an objective.”
- Competencies are important because having a workforce
with a high level of competency increases the likelihood that Timken will achieve its objectives.
- Therefore, competencies are 1/2 of the performance equation in today’s business world: Behaviors + Results = Performance.
