BS Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering,
or Industrial Engineering. Strong Mechanical Engineering skills
are desired.

Position Description
An intensive 12-month training program makes the Sales Engineer
an expert in the technical and commercial skills required to solve
customer problems. The development program combines classroom and
on-the-job training. Training includes knowledge of bearings, customers'
applications, company business operating philosophies, and sales
techniques. This program makes the Timken Sales Engineer one of
the most respected in the industry. Sales Engineers are given total
responsibility for their accounts, and have frequent exposure to
top management. This exposure combined with the excellent communication
skills developed through customer contact makes them prime candidates
for promotion. Sales Engineers are responsible for managing all
company interaction with their accounts. Contact with our customers
organizations occurs at all levels of engineering, manufacturing,
purchasing and management. Sales Engineers select and engineer bearings
into applications in the automotive, farm equipment, construction
equipment, gear drive, aircraft, and machine tool industries. They
make suggestions regarding proper lubrication, fitting, setting,
sealing, and assembly of these designs. Emphasis is placed on the
best overall design value. In addition, the Sales Engineer handles
all commercial negotiations with their customers. Candidates should
enjoy contact with people, have good communication skills, and be
self-motivated.
