A Century of Leadership

A farm boy boards a ship in Germany with his family, bound for distant America. He is seven and the year is 1838. He makes the hazardous Atlantic crossing to New Orleans. A brief pause and then he boards a steamer which bucks the current up the Mississippi to St. Louis.

The hundred-year journey of The Timken Company has its roots in that 1830s odyssey, which calls to mind some of history's great adventures. A young man of vision develops a bold strategy. He gathers resources, sets out, innovates and improvises, encounters early hurdles, stays the course, overcomes and progresses.
